Production Actions

Pro Production automation utilizes actions to apply effects to images, which you can customize in your Settings based on different stages of the production process.

For instance, while ProSelect by default uses its own methods to convert images to Black & White (B&W) or Special Tint (Local Effects), you might prefer using alternative methods.  You can set up your own actions for these conversions, which ProSelect will then use.  Additionally, there's an option for a Custom B&W workflow specifically for processing images with these effects.

Beyond color conversions, you can create actions for other routine enhancements, such as sharpening, and configure ProSelect to automatically apply these to your images during production.  This configuration is also managed in your Settings.

All actions applied within ProSelect using the Custom Effects feature are saved with each image.  By default, when production is run, the same action is applied to either the original or the retouched image in Photoshop.  However, you have the flexibility to substitute a different action or disable automatic actions entirely during Pro Production via your Settings.

Order of Actions in the Production Process

This is the order in which the production process uses the actions.  Each action in the process adds to the work done in the previous step, leading to the final version of the image, which is then saved and completed.  Click on the links to see more information about the setup and application of each step.
