Reference Products
Reference Products serve the purpose of displaying billable items in an appealing format on the customer invoice. They are products that are not typically produced within ProSelect but are used to showcase chargeable items effectively. One example of a Reference Product is an image box. Click on Reference Products to learn how to create these in the Product Editor.
An image box is a container for a photographic product, but the box itself is not a photographic product. The image box Reference Product is utilized to demonstrate a chargeable product. It includes an opening for an image, which is used solely for illustrative purposes. However, since it is a Reference Product, the image used does not undergo Pro Production. The actual image-based products are the matted prints contained within the box, and they are ordered as separate products.
For Reference Products, the product template name is used as the product name, and no specific sizing is associated with the template. Although the template can include openings, they are not obligatory. Additionally, up to six lines of additional descriptive text can be added to provide further details about the item.
Characteristics of a Reference Product
- There is no associated sizing.
- They do not trigger any production.
- They allow up to six lines of descriptive text on the invoice.
- Overlays, multiple openings, and shape masks are supported.
Reference Products can also be used for charging purposes for items like albums. For instance, in the case of a GraphiStudio Favola album, a Reference Product can be employed to represent the album and reflect the associated cost.
